I personally would be willing to have a 10% pay cut to work only 6 hours a day

  Unfortunately, at least in the US, going down to 6 hours a day makes you a part time employee, at which point you lose a lot more than even 25% of your pay. Frequently benefits are pared down to the point of extinction, including health, vacation and holidays.

    what's stopping you from being a salaried employee that just happens to work 30 hours a week?

      Employer expectations of 40-50 hours of work a week, with corrective action as the stick that enforces it.

        Yeah, that's true. My point is that nothing is stopping companies from offering 30 hour work weeks and also benefits.
