Personally i came from Windows being a gamer for most of my teenager years so i used Windows to develop initially. But all solutions like using Xampp, over Linux VMs to Vagrant where painful in some way or another so i switched to Macs in 2009 and never looked back (still have a Windows Box for rare gaming). Today i run docker for my local projects but since OSX is Unix it works much better then on Windows. No with Bash on Ubuntu on Windows, this could change though and Windows could become viable again.
