I want to upgrade solely for the additional pcie lanes. If you haven't seen how fast a new m.2 nvme ssd is, you are missing out. It's like the same speed boost we saw from the first spinning disk to ssd upgrade, again with sata ssd to nvme. It's crazy fast.
- monochromatic 10y agoIn benchmarks or in real world usage?
- zlynx 10y agoLarge MMO binary game patches complete faster on my Intel 750 NVMe drive. This is a lot of small random access reads and writes. So that is one real world gain.
- codebook 10y agoDefinitely in benchmark.
- monochromatic 10y agoI'm not sure I care then. My old Samsung 840 Pro is fast enough that it's rarely if ever the weak link.
- jjaredsimpson 10y agobenchmarks. the perception of performance is almost entirely related to latency at low queue depths. You cant tell the difference between 100 us and 1 ms.
