It may not represent a large portion of our population, but it does represent a large amount of wealth and income. Sure, there are still elements of the leisure class that spend time maximizing their income by working/investing, but its hard to call that a "job". If there's no risk of falling through and becoming insolvent, then I'd say it's more of a hobby focused on power/wealth accumulation.
