I've been full time vegan for two years and converted over night. I also recognize that this method is not for everyone. The "try it out for a few days of the week" approach has worked for a lot of people I have talked to (sorry, no data on this). Taking incremental steps toward long-lasting diet and lifestyle changes is better than adopting drastic changes over night and giving up shortly after.
- socksy 10y agoThe other issue I've seen is that people that jump quickly into veganism from climate change reasons alone, is that in those moments of "weakness" later on, they're much more likely to relapse, and go straight back into eating meat. When there's a more fundamental change on an ethics basis (i.e. you do a mental switch and stop looking at that stuff as food to be consumed at all), then the changes seem to be more long lasting. Then it stops being "I shouldn't do this" to "I can't do this".
