The web closing off is very bad for Google but I'm rooting for them to try stem the trend since it's also bad for users. Putting walled gardens around large portions of the net will inevitably result in endless mergers and an eventual "website fee" that users pay to one of three highly entrenched monopolies that control all the content. It will be back to the cable TV days in no time
