As far as I can tell you are using the chromeless player. I've been using this for two years now at Totlol. Can you elaborate at a technical level what is it exactly that you "drop"?

Yep, it's the chromeless player. We grab videos links from twitter, then we use the youtube data api to drop videos where the embed access control is disabled.
