My team recently asked me to introduce ROTI [0] (return on time invested) as part of all our meetings, and it has helped us gauge the mood of meetings, and work out which kinds of meetings don't work well. Between these and retrospectives it's been possible for us to eliminate most all contra-productive meetings.
