Clash of Clans is actually fairly balanced if you don't pay at all. The most common use case for buying gems is to make upgrades happen quicker (typically if you are in a close clan war), but it is completely possible to spend no money at all and still progress.
- bmm6o 10y agoIn addition, the IAP can get you to a particular state faster but it doesn't really give you an advantage once you're there. So it's a fair fight between someone who's been grinding for a year vs someone who's been playing for 3 months but paid to speed up his progress.
