Ask HN: What nice things happened to you because of your open source project?
Maybe you were asked to write an article or even a book as a result of your open source project?
Or maybe you were invited to speak at a conference? Maybe someone even made you a job offer?
Perhaps you amassed far more users than you ever expected? Or maybe you gained a small, but passionate band of followers for your project?
Or maybe you simply got a friendly, thankful email from someone which made all your effort feel worthwhile?

I wanted to give back to the open source community, and to design software that I and others can use and enjoy. I have seen a slight uptick in traffic and sales in other products of mine, but it's not significant.
