I haven't fully thought this out yet, but it strikes me that with an AWS SDK, Rust would be an ideal language for high performance Lambda functions.
* No JVM/Interpreter memory overhead
* No garbage collection (I know this is controversial)
* Compiled binaries with low startup time
* High performance (assuming you write it well..)
* Aware of multi-core systems
* Good networking capabilities
Currently if you want really high performance on Lambda with a SDK for AWS services, you have to go Java and all that comes with it, or launch Go or C++ binaries via a nodejs process.
