It rides atop opinion polls at roughly 36 percent — more than double the popularity of the ousted Civic Platform party. After too many scandals and corruption allegations, with statements derogatory of normal people ( like "What idiot would work for 6K PLN?" when median of wages was 3K PLN) and general disregard of people, voters were fed up with ruling party and wanted change. Populists rode on this and we have current situation. Liberals are still not popular because people remember what they did but there's actually no strong alternative for PiS.
