I upgraded my Macbook Pro 13" with 16GB of memory, a 250GB SSD, a 1TB HDD and a Bluetooth 4.0 internal card. I'll keep this for a few years.
- 72deluxe 10y agoI agree. I am keeping my 2012 i7 MBP for a few more years. Upgraded to 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, still got a useful DVD writer and plethora of incredibly useful ports all without dongles! And MagSafe.
- elliotec 10y agoHow do you upgrade like that? I have one of the same models.
- 72deluxe 10y agoThe RAM involves taking the bottom off and shoving in some more sticks. Officially this can only support a maximum of 8GB but I have had no problem with 16GB. For the hard disk, it is fairly trivial too. I went with a Samsung 850 EVO 1TB.
- humbleMouse 10y agoSamsies. I love my 2012 i7 MBP. I did the same upgrades as you, super easy and it runs everything I need! To the other commenter - upgrading the hard drive to a SSD is easy, you just need a mini screwdriver and the new hard drive. Protip - I put a small piece of foam in when I replaced my HDD because the solid states are so much smaller than the spinning drives.
- terinjokes 10y agoWe should start a group of happy 2012 MacBook Pro users. Let's just say that I've been eligible for a work upgrade for 2, going on 3, years now. :) Unfortunately, I've lost Bluetooth at some point. I've meant to debug (and replace the card if needed).
