I still can't quite come to terms with it, but I've worked with someone who managed to be at both ends of the spectrum at once. Insisted on using some newfangled thing for a major part of the product, and in doing it their way – and then, nobody was allowed to change it. Mercifully, their work has generated so many bugs that they've been maintaining that product for the last year and haven't had time to touch anything else.
