I think Universal Angular was designed to address that issue with server-side rendering: https://github.com/angular/universal https://github.com/angular/universal It hasn't received much attention from the community apart from the occasional keynote presentation and it is not linked anywhere on the official documentation for Angular 2. However, the description now says "Current Status: Merging Universal into Angular core".
