Cultural chauvinism is certainly the primary justification for cultural imperialism though. I'm not even against the idea that some cultures are better than others--it seems unlikely that all ways to arrange society would happen to be equally good. But I think if you're going to judge a whole culture, you should at least have lived in it first.
