Yep, I feel the opposite way! Tarkin felt very uncanny valley to me at first, but due to him appearing several more times, that feeling died off and it felt normal that someone 22 years dead was in this movie. Leia, however, only had that brief (and unnecessary, imo) scene so I had all of about 15 seconds to realize what I was seeing, process it, and get used to it. It looked/felt like a video game cutscene. That being said I think the technology itself is absolutely amazing. I'd been avoiding rumors/trailers/etc. so it was a complete surprise to me when Tarkin turned around.
