It vaguely reminds me of this planned cooperative British rail service: http://go-op.coop/ http://go-op.coop/ Go-Op aims to run passenger owned trains in competition with franchises granted by the government to conventional profit-distributing businesses. As far as I know, its trains haven't yet started running, but I'm pleased to see that it hasn't been abandoned, especially in light of Southern Rail's troubles.
