> Earlier in the week one of the cars was filmed jumping a red light, an incident Uber blamed on human error.
Usually the definition of human error is related to an action of override from part of a human over the normal actions of a machine.
If a pilot ignores a blinking red light or a driver overrides the stop mechanism of a train causing an accident, then it is human error.
If the red light doesn't blinks or the stop mechanism stops working, the fact that the operator failed to notice this events is not human error, but a machine error. Even when there was a possibility of correction by the human operator.
If the car doesn't stops in a red light and the human operator fails to stop, it looks like a machine failure. Unless stopping at red lights is not part of the car specifications, but then probably you cant say that it's a self-driving car anymore.
