Bruce Schneier: Plagiarism and Academia: Personal Experience
- _Codemonkeyism 10y agoShould add (2005) to title.
- valleyer 10y agoPlagiarism is wrong, but Schneier's vengeful attitude is really not flattering. "should be fired and/or expelled"? Why not let their universities worry about that?
- Semaphor 10y agoIt's not as if he started a campaign to get them fired. He said that this is what in his opinion should happen to them and other who plagiarize at this level.
- brudgers 10y agoI would not be surprised in his attitude had not evolved in the 11 years since he wrote what he wrote. The rise of social media has changed the way many people view throw-away rhetoric on the internet.
- AndyMcConachie 10y agoCompletely disagree. Academics who engage in plagarism should be put in metaphorical town stocks and have metaphorical tomatoes thrown at them by everyone in their discipline. They should be named, shamed, disgraced and have their livelihoods threatened.
