Yes that was the reason I wrote 'adhere' not take - and it's interesting that this fact is not widely known in the public (probably due to TV dramas). The best thing about the Hippocratic Oath as a social construct is it makes everyone trust doctors (still rank high in every survey on trust) while doctors are just the same as everyone else. So the cynic in me thinks this is the reason so many people push for something similar in IT.
