I get where you're coming from, because people are dying RIGHT NOW but the fixes for "right now" and "future times" can be the same solution. Scrubbers for example would make things cleaner pretty much immediately (not perfect, but better), and of course long term as well. It doesn't necessarily have to be one or the other. I'm by no means an expert, but I don't think climate change is only a first world problem. For example, my mom's country is the Philippines, and it's one of the hottest places on the planet. It's also extremely poor, and when I visited ~12 years ago, many places did not have electricity, or air conditioning. As temperatures rise, being such a hot place it starts to get too dangerous to go outside. It makes it hard to do farm work. People get sick from the heat.
