I wouldn't argue the journalism point, but it's very clear that the blog post is an attempt to (1) present solid statistics and (2) bolster their own credibility because "they have good statistics". Except what we really have is a lack of data backing up the fancy non-informative charts (that clearly in no way shape or form correspond to the so-called millions of data points).
