Something seems profoundly fishy about the numbers. Also from wikipedia, "LAUSD served 694,288 students, and had 45,473 teachers and 38,494 other employees".

Something seems profoundly fishy about the numbers. Also from wikipedia, "LAUSD served 694,288 students, and had 45,473 teachers and 38,494 other employees". That's a 15:1 student-teacher ratio, which is not bad at all, but also dramatically different from what anyone I know in the area experiences. It would be interesting to see some explanation of that apparent discrepancy, and also to know exactly what those "other employees", who total nearly as many as the teachers, are doing.
