Seems to me like you haven't learned the right lesson. Small sample sizes can still yield useful results. It depends on the nature of the study. Instead of closing yourself (and the rest of us) based on a fairly arbitrary criteria, you're going to have to use critical thinking. That should be applied to everything you read not just studies.
