The page doesn't mention compiling code with -O2 or -O3. Does anyone know the reason for this? In particular -O3 is meant to enable vectorisation optimisations, which seems like it might subsume the author's hand optimisations. Also I believe Intel C Compiler is better at optimising numerical code, so results with that would also be illuminating.

You can enable vectorization manually without going for -O2 or -O3

    Actually, it is clear the author didn't because he gives the shell commands that are used to compile.
