Using command line tools is one thing while managing and keeping them up to date is another and extracting the latter into a GUI is pretty convenient. I think when people see this, they immediately think of using it to help create node applications -- likely a ridiculous scenario -- but when using it to manage command like tools available through npm, it makes sense.
