Is satire called fake news now?

• bitwize 10y ago
At least since the mid-90s when Norm MacDonald opened the SNL Weekend Update with "And now the fake news." More recently, the "fake news" controversy was caused, in part, by sites that ran satirical articles without making it clear that these were satire. They would then be reblogged on Facebook and so forth by people who thought they were genuine. There were other dimensions to fake news, but that's part of it.
