The same reason you want literacy in any other field: to not be taken by the nose, taken advantage of. Example medical care, in theory I should not know a thing

The same reason you want literacy in any other field: to not be taken by the nose, taken advantage of. Example medical care, in theory I should not know a thing about it. Yet not all doctors show the required dedication to figure out a problem to it's root cause. As such I need some literacy in this field, so I can solve, or insist/steer the problem to a solution.
