In a recent talk LeCun said, in 2021 we can formulate natural language queries over a corpus and get back relevant snippets or even answers. His example was wikipedia, but of course this is more general. If this happens, this progress in the NLP subfield of ML alone would make millions of jobs obsolete, where a person does some research and copy and pastes information into a document.
The point being: You do not need general AI anytime soon, the consequences will still be significant, I would bet.
- dirtyaura 10y agoDo you remember the name of the talk? Or do you have a link to video? I've been dabbling with something related (NLP and finding a specific piece of information, with much much smaller scope though than a generic case) and would love to see what pros are currently thinking.
