How about this definition: If you have enough assets (liquid or otherwise) to convince a bank to lend you a billion, you are a billionaire.

  By that measure, I can guarantee you that they don't meet the standard. Banks are rather conservative.

    But probably less conservative than you think. Bank just don't like handing out loans against collateral they can't collect against.

      That's exactly the point though. A bank wouldn't be able to collect.
