If you're over step 0 and are pretty sure deep learning is right for the job, I suggest steps 1: download Torch, and 2: get comfortable with putting your data into Tensors. As a software developer I found Torch much easier to learn than alternatives like Tensorflow, probably due to the comfortable imperative style.
