I suggest http://web.archive.org/web/20160413005246/http://www.norvig.com/lispy.html http://web.archive.org/web/20160413005246/http://www.norvig..... It's extremely easy to understand. Once you start adding features to your Lisp interpreter and extending it, you'll eventually realize that the naive recursive descent approach is getting in the way of your more complicated ideas, but you'll be ready to try more sophisticated approaches to writing an interpreter. Nothing beats Norvig to me for learning how to write an interpreter as a beginner. Lisp isn't as complex as the Monkey programming language from https://interpreterbook.com https://interpreterbook.com, but I argue that that's a good thing. Once you get the basic principles, writing an interpreter for a language like Monkey seems like a much more easily surmountable task.
