Consultants usually charge $200-$300 an hour for domain expert level experience. It can be more, but that's a reasonable range. This isn't SV specific, I've had quotes in that range from DC, NYC, and the UK. Long story short: you have to be an expert and be able to get known as an expert in your field enough to be able to justify charging that much. It's easier when you're part of a consulting firm - who obviously takes their cut out of that rate first.
