Ross Ulbricht’s Lawyers Found Another Corrupt Agent in Silk Road Case
- at-fates-hands 10y agoKind of misleading headline. Here are the important parts of the article: Even if defense lawyers manage to prove the existence of a third corrupt agent, Ulbricht’s appeal of his conviction in the New York trial—the 32-year-old’s last chance to escape a life sentence—isn’t likely to be affected. So no changes in the outcome of the trial, or chance for a new trial. The same judge also argued that nothing indicated the two agents had actually tampered with evidence against Ulbricht. They made some money on the side, but never tampered with evidence that could be thrown out, so the verdict will stand. of course in the last paragraph: The clues of tainted evidence are hardly enough to change Ulbricht’s legal fate. It might be something, but not nearly enough to warrant a new trial.
