Anyone else bothered by her phrasing of "he’s trying to be helpful" followed by "Bless his little heart"? Why would anyone publicly address their SO in such a patronizing way? This just bothered me more than it should.
- briansteffens 10y agoAlso "Sometimes he says wrong things, and then I have to explain why those things are wrong.." Sounds more like she just lectures him rather than having actual conversations.
- thesimpsons1022 10y agoyeah and what does that have to do with the article at all? not sure why she included it. imagine if a man said that stuff about a woman. i'd hear sexism and mansplaining nonstop.
- tptacek 10y agoYou're right: it bothered you more than it should. We should leave strangers to their own relationships; they're not for us to litigate.
- chris_wot 10y agoI was forced to look beyond those comments to try to understand the substance of the article. It bothered me, too. In fact, the author makes some great points, but ultimately I found that if you remove the emotion from this article it led to someone complaining they want to do things the right way, the first time. That's admirable, but the attitude behind it is that nobody in tech does this and the author is incredibly badly misunderstood by everyone in IT. That annoyed me in The Fountainhead, and it bothers me in this prose also. I think there is a big difference between being bothered by someone's comments and litigating them :-)
- str33t_punk 10y agoI think this is her problem --- I imagine she thinks she is always right, and when her team decided to make the project way A which was probably faster and easier to do than her way B, she got upset and wrote this article to 'correct' the tech industry
