- smallnamespace 10y agoNot directly related to viruses, but here's a study that shows that gut bacteria from thin people will make mice thinner: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/06/health/gut-bacteria-from-thin-humans-can-slim-mice-down.html http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/06/health/gut-bacteria-from-t... - burfog 10y agoThe NIH reports 4 different adenoviruses that make people obese: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17908526 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17908526 The 4 viruses are SMAM-1, Ad-36, Ad-37, and Ad-5. It looks like Wikipedia needs an update; only 1 of the 4 viruses is listed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infectobesity https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infectobesity This certainly suggests that you could catch obesity from an obese person. It's actually kind of terrifying.
