- eropple 10y agoThey also don't make their own laptops. Their Bonobo top-end model is a Sager/Clevo. I've never had it explained to me why buying from System76 instead of Sager or Clevo makes sense, but there you go.
- brianwawok 10y agoUbuntu tech support. You can't email Sager and ask how to fix a kernel panic for their laptop.
- eropple 10y agoI guess that's true. Given the hardware commonality, though, I bet you can just go online.
- brianwawok 10y agoSupposedly System76 has some extra bios and driver magic to fix some things. I am not sure how true it is. I am very curious though, not sure what to get for my next ubuntu laptop. (Done with macs, need 64GB ram in next laptop).
- akulbe 10y agoIsn't it true that nobody makes their own laptops, though? I thought $COMPANY does the design and then it goes to one of three (or is it four?) ODMs for manufacturing. Is that not the case?
- eropple 10y agoSystem76 doesn't do the design, as near as I can tell. Their laptops are literally-literally Sager/Clevo models.
