some of the arguments i've seen about it make sense - how do users know that this hasn't happened before? reddit comments have made it into court apparently, and now that it's public knowledge that reddit's higher ups can silently edit comments, that's a huge deal. in my opinion, it's made me lose a lot of trust (not that I had a ton anyway) for the entire site.
