If you want to use python I would give web2py + intercooler.js a try. It is "good enough" for most CRUD pet projects. Reading here the comments about Django's advantages an inner voice always says "fine, web2py has it too" except the excessive documentation and the weird non-pythonic syntax. If you want to make something really professional just ignore the words of a n00b.
