Reddit used to be a place where intelligent users had a quality discussion. It used to happen. At least in my imagination. What I see now is a machine which produces memes (still going strong there) and propaganda (growing stronger) but the discussion is on a much lower intellectual level.

- samstave 10y agoCalling BS for the following reason: I agree with what you posted that memes and propaganda are still going/growing strong... there is still a TON TON TON of discourse that is important and intellectual. S:N ratio and all that.... Noise may be growing like mad (Shills/corps/whatever-other-noise-producers/etc).... but Signal is growing as well. The thing is that NvS ratio has to increase in order to keep status quo.... That doesnt mean that certain stories are not true but that perhaps they are pushed aside with noise to keep certain things seemingly implausible...
