I had a similar realization in my early twenties which led me into an artistic field. For the next four years it became an obsession which took up most of my time. Then reality kicked in and I found myself broke and unemployed and had to give it up. One of the biggest failures in my life so far. Just when I started to get a hang of it too. One advice I would give is try to have some sort of income from somewhere else, so you can finance your artistic pursuits, because most likely you won't be making any real money from it. Anyway, sorry for the sob story. Had to vent.
