Have you tried using JXA? It's horribly undocumented! :( I find it incredibly frustrating, because otherwise I think JXA would be amazing. It's actually incredibly powerful, if you're willing to put in the time to figure it out. You can use JXA-handbook and its linked resources as a reference. But aside from that the only thing you'll find from Apple is the changelog [1] and the library in Script Editor (open it with shift+cmd+L).
