I've done this twice and both times it was a pretty positive experience on the whole, but I made sure to be really open about stuff and ask questions where I thought they were appropriate. I would imagine the experience really comes down to the company, the interviewers, etc - but I figure if they're going to be watching me code it's now pair programming and I treat it as such. That being said, tech interviewing in almost all current forms sucks and we need a better method. As has been said for years now.
