On the contrary, we should support Twitter more after their recent laudable efforts in banning neo-Nazi accounts. There is no freedom to spout hate speech on someone else's platform.
- oniMaker 10y agoYes. Let's support them for justifying their censorship by misapplying a label to whomever they disagree with. Don't agree? You must be a Nazi! A child's argument.
- legodt 10y agowhy are there so many neo-nazi sympathizers on hackernews...
- itwaseverything 10y agoTalk about proving his point... or is this sarcasm?
- legodt 10y agoNo, I meant it without irony
- zimpenfish 10y agoI'm not sure it's "neo-nazi sympathisers" as much as "oblivious young white male libertarians who don't realise the bubble they live in." Admittedly they do tend to sound the same when it comes to "censorship" but I think the distinction helps.
- vacri 10y agoExpecting a tolerant person to be blindly tolerant (of anything) is an adolescent argument. Tolerance is not a binary state, and has never meant a binary state.
- Jerry2 10y agoThat's pretty funny considering that Twitter verified Muslim Brotherhood's offical account... which is a terrorist organization. http://beforeitsnews.com/politics/2016/11/twitter-verifies-muslim-brotherhood-account-after-purging-conservatives-2860706.html http://beforeitsnews.com/politics/2016/11/twitter-verifies-m...
- oniMaker 10y agoExactly. They get to choose what's on their platform, and we get to choose whether to use it.
