I use https://freedom.to/ https://freedom.to/ to block HN on my phone and laptop when I need to.
- rashkov 10y agoThanks for the recommendation, but why is it a subscription service? Does it work like a vpn or something where they host servers to support this kind of traffic blocking?
- Jonovono 10y agoYa, that's how they are able to block websites on your phone. You go through their VPN.
- apancik 10y agoWhat I found is that blocking completely works less than just delaying the page for a bit with something like https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/waitblock/kcnjfeppclpdinikcljfjigoongebpkh https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/waitblock/kcnjfepp... That way I have enough time to think and question whether I really want to open the page I was about to open, and I don't disable the whole thing if I actually need to visit it.
