I personally blame the New York Times as much as anyone for the results of the election. For the last 15 years, they've participated in the fear mongering over-reporting on extremely rare Islamic terrorism to get readers and appeal to fearful Americans who don't understand statistics and don't get told by the media just how small a threat it's always really been. The culture of irrational overblown fear of terrorism they've helped create is what created Trump, more than emails, more than fake news. Big media players like the NYT play up threats for views and wonder why people vote for strongmen fascists to protect them from the big bad Muslims.
