Front-End Front – Basically, front-end news
- Sc0ttPatter 10y agoThis is another place for front-end content spam but I like it.
- truth_sentinell 10y agoWhat others you have in your memory?
- Gigablah 10y agoWhere front-end developers... front?
- Sc0ttPatter 10y agoHow did the web developer hurt Comic Sans feelings? a. Once he saw the font he quickly changed it to Open Sans and exclaimed “In your @font-face!”
- libria 10y agoTitle was truncated > Front-end Front is a place where front-end developers can ask questions, share interesting links, and show their work to the rest of the community. Have you heard of Hacker News or Designer News? It’s something like that, but focused more on front-end. Maybe something like > frontendfront: a front-end dev news-aggregation site would work better
- ad-hominem 10y agoFront end fronts, a place where the frontiest front end front developers front their front end fronts for other front end fronters.
- matt4077 10y agoThis is the front-end / my only front-friend / the front-end.

- jasode 10y agoI'm not understanding why the submitted title has "can ask questions" in it. The only obvious user action I see is "+Add story" at the top of the page and also in the hamburger menu. This makes the site more like a HN/reddit news aggregation site rather than a Stackoverflow q&a. (The about page at https://frontendfront.com/about https://frontendfront.com/about does mention "ask questions" so maybe the brothers intend that to be possible in the future?)
- dang 10y agoOk, we'll put the doc title up instead.
- k__ 10y agoI like it. But it needs a big "HIDE" button besides every article.
- zichy 10y agoSeriously, if I have to see one more burger menu on a desktop site … I have to click unnecessarily on the icon to see the navigation (which, of course, overlaps the whole page). Terrific.
- dfar1 10y agoIt's the future! Where mobile and desktop collide.
- nkuttler 10y agoMy bank does this as well. It's unfathomable, they went straight from a 90s site to a touch-friendly-desktop-hostile site. Not sure if incompetent devs or stupid management, or both.
- dragonshed 10y agoI also really hate this trend. The apparent consequence of Mobile First is that we've collectively shifted focus to mobile at the expense of desktop (and tablets) We were supposed to focus on BOTH.
- wwalser 10y agoI too hate when desktop websites hide all of their navigation behind a burger menu. I also generally hate all mystery meat navigation. The way that it's used here though it seems reasonable. All of the important navigation is along the top header of the site. The burger menu is just the equivalent of a "more" dropdown. The fact that it's on the left may lead you to think that the stuff behind it is important (being a left to right reader and thus a left to right scanner) but after clicking it once, that's clearly not the case. The only thing behind the burger menu that someone who uses this site regularly _might_ use occasionally is search and even that's unlikely since search on all reddit/HN clones is complete crap compared to using Google "site:frontendfront.com thing I want to find".
- dang 10y agoThis comment breaks the HN guidelines badly, especially the ones for the reception of new work: https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html Dismissive snark is not ok here, even when a click was unnecessary. Such comments damage our community. All new work has flaws. Comments like yours create a climate in which no one can share anything without having vitriol sprayed at them. That's the opposite of what we want HN to be, so please don't post like that.
- dfar1 10y agoWas expecting stackoverflow clone, got hackernews clone. Title is misleading.
- publicfig 10y agoI'm not really sure what makes this different than the dozens of other Front-End/JS specific HN clones that make it to the front page and end up functionally shut down due to lack of content or user engagement.
- aikah 10y agoLook good though.
