This isn't the "wrong candidate" who has "wrong" policy views like Ted Cruz or Pat Buchanan. This is a candidate who doesn't really have the basic self-control to stop Tweeting when he knows it's hurting him. That's new. Alexander Hamilton didn't think it could happen, although we've greatly damaged the system that he and his peers created to prevent it from happening (primary elections, ballot measures, bound electors, etc). It's worth trying to figure out why, because it will only take between one and a few such commanders-in-chief for the story to get its final chapter.
