I've owned a couple NUCs. One that was fanless (Gigabyte BACE-3000), but a bit slow. I upgraded to an Gigabyte Intel i5 NUC, it has a fan but I can't hear it at all. Brilliant machine. I think the "quiet pc issue" is a solved problem provided you aren't building a massive gaming machine.
